Can someone understand a place before arriving? A digital space creates another way in. The right capture method depends on whether the goal is presentation, documentation or a wider operational use.

Start with the people you want to invite in.

A restaurant may want guests to get a feel for the setting. An exhibition may need an online life beyond its opening dates. A facilities team may need a common visual reference. Define the audience and purpose before choosing the technology.

  • Marketing: communicate atmosphere and distinctive details.
  • Virtual visits: let people choose where to look and move.
  • Documentation: create a spatial record people can revisit.

Panoramas, tours and digital twins.

A panorama lets viewers look around from one capture position. A virtual tour connects multiple positions. Spatial reconstruction can also reveal how rooms and floors relate to one another. Panoramas, tour links and model data are different deliverables.

Does a 3D model include live monitoring?

Not by itself. In spatial presentation, “digital twin” often refers to a digital reconstruction of a real place. Operational applications need relevant data connections and ongoing updates. A one-time scan or tour does not automatically include live monitoring, simulation or sensor integration.

What should we prepare before capture?

Share the location, approximate area, number of floors, floor plans and the areas you want included. Then agree on access times, routes, site preparation and any areas to exclude.

If the tour needs videos, text or information points, prepare a content list in advance. Planning the imagery and information together gives visitors a clearer experience.

What should we confirm at handover?

A tour URL, original panoramas, a model and a point cloud are separate deliverables. Agree on the required outputs, supported platforms, embedding and future updates.

Also agree on hosting duration, account management and maintenance. If the space changes, discuss when a new capture or rebuild may be needed.
